Before reading :To me writing is the expressions of someones thoughts and ideas that are shared through writing books ,stories, blogs ,and articles. Successful writing for me is being able to read something and identify thoughts and ideas based on someones writing. I see my self as more of an inspirational writer because once I get all of my ideas straight and find that spark of inspiration I do not have any problems writing. Some words that I associate writing with are thoughts , ideas , words , ideas , stories , and articles.

After reading: In collins commencement speech he talks about how speeches are generally a tricky genre I think because when we give speeches there live in person and almost always about real life situations which makes it tricky to define it with a specific genre of writing. In my opinion I would say this text is very successful in the beginning when he first wrote this speech he had no idea that he would now be famous for his commencement speech writing. This speech is also successful for not only physically being now well known it is also very successful in the context and the word choice he uses for this speech. In most commencement speeches you hear advice for the real world and you have no idea if that speaker has followed that advice themselves. In Collins speech he states that he would not share any advice with them that he has not followed himself and to me that is what stands out the most and makes this speech different from all the rest. I think the list of terms that I defined writing as that are listed above are pretty accurate along the lines of this speech so therefore I would not change my list right now.
